HEAT-Net

Comprehensive software package utilized for designing energy systems for individual processes on site

It not only provides energy targets and optimizes utility choices for each process but also performs automatic heat exchanger network design based on the selected utilities.

The software facilitates both new design and retrofit processes, offering automatic modifications while allowing the designer to retain full control over network complexity. In retrofit scenarios, modifications are presented one at a time to minimize the number of changes, and the final decision is left to the designer. HEAT-net addresses issues such as optimizing utility choices and loads, automatic design of new heat exchanger networks, retrofit design with a minimum number of modifications, and design for multiple utilities. The program allows interactive network design, simulation using simple models, targeting minimum energy consumption, optimizing networks, and ensuring network operability. Interactions between HEAT-net and STEAM-net are seamless, with common data structures enabling file sharing and eliminating manual data transfer between the packages.
