DISTIL-Net

Designed for planning and optimisation of distillation systems

It not only provides energy targets and optimizes utility choices for each process but also performs automatic heat exchanger network design based on the selected utilities.

The software allows screening and optimization of sequences involving simple or complex columns, including prefractionations, side-strippers, side-rectifiers, and fully thermally coupled columns. It identifies the most suitable combination for a given separation problem, including designs involving stripping steam. DISTL-net enables the investigation of energy integration implications for a given design and supports the sequencing of distillation systems for azeotropic mixtures. Key issues addressed by DISTL-net include sequencing simple and complex distillation columns, simultaneous optimization of pressure with configuration, and heat integration of distillation sequences.
